Lately there has been a big demand for finger tattoos. The requests for tattoos on either the outside and/or inside of the fingers keep coming in. A few examples are the so called ‘ring’ tattoos or texts on the sides of the fingers.
The disadvantage of tattoos on the fingers is that they fade quickly or in the worst case, disappear completely. This is why a lot of tattoo artists and studios will not recommend you to get your fingers tattooed.
The tissue on your hands and fingers is very thin and used is used almost constantly and seen as the ideal placement for pigment would be between the epidermis and dermis, the pigment on fingers will never end up in the right place and so in a sense, will keep floating around.
If you tattoo too deep the tattoo will be blurry and possibly turn into a smudge or stain over time. When you tattoo more shallow, the tattoos pigment will soon disappear. Either way, the tattoo will not last or fade in an ugly way.
It is virtually impossible for a tattoo artist to guarantee a sustainable and beautiful tattoo on fingers. Therefor, do not be disappointed when you are advised not to get your fingers tattooed. The artist, after all, speaks from experience.
